Despite the fact that sometimes we are inclined to think that UFO manifestations (observations) have decreased a lot in recent years, the truth is that they have been maintaining an indeterminate cyclical frequency, in the sense that more or less long periods, characterized by the scarcity of UFO observations, there have been others in which such observations have occurred with evident assiduity.

Possibly we are in one of these positive phases, as the details of occasional and interesting observations are coming to our knowledge. The phenomenon, then, that we are so passionate about studying and researching, does not abandon us and continues in our skies, spurring our eagerness and throwing us the unique challenge of its unusual nature and significance. In return, we continue in the gap and we will not give up our efforts, armed with the hope that one day we will be able, perhaps, to obtain the knowledge, the ultimate and definitive purpose of our work.

We are going to present on this occasion the details of a UFO Observation that gathers in itself the triple interest of its proximity in time and space (we wrote these lines in Barcelona) and the special quality of the witness. Indeed, said Observation took place on July 16, 1973 in the Medes Islands area, in front of the beaches of L’Estartit (Girona), being witnessed by a commercial pilot who flew in a small plane of which so much They have been used in this last summer to collaborate in the extinction of the numerous and serious forest fires that, as a fatal plague, we have had to endure in our mountains, as a consequence, in large part, of the unconsciousness and lightness of human action.

Observation Area.

It was 6.30 p.m. and the plane was flying at a height of 1,000 m. and about 14 kms. from the Medes Islands, after having loaded water at the Empuria Brava airport (close to the Girona town of Roses). When he was going to fulfill his mission of collaborating in the extinction of a serious fire declared in the forests of Platja d’Aro, the pilot of the aircraft, whose name we will silence at the request of the interested party, saw very close and located approximately in the same horizontal plane of his apparatus, but a little further forward and to his right, an object that due to its characteristics and movements produced a vivid impression on him and also an acute sense of fear, for which he turned his apparatus to try to flee. However, the strange object kept its position in relation to the plane (to the right and a little ahead).

In view of what was happening, the pilot called his base reporting having difficulties (he honestly confesses that he did not dare to tell the truth to his fellow listeners, for fear of not being believed) and continued in his efforts to try to escape, swooping to gain speed, but without achieving its purpose of detaching itself from the extraordinary object. When landing at the aforementioned airport, the pilot explained that when he was already thinking of making an emergency landing on the neighboring beach of Pals (called L’Estartit), the object or whatever it was, rose rapidly until it disappeared.

Other details to highlight and that concurred in this remarkable UFO Observation apart from those referring to the UFO itself and which we will describe below, refer to the fact that the pilot did not dare to explain clearly and on the radio what he saw, fearful of the possible mockery of his companions who were listening on the ground, and, also, the fact that at certain moments he noticed that the plane’s station was completely failing him, for which reason he momentarily detached the headphones that he was wearing to communicate and then he was able to clearly appreciate that the UFO produced, in its movements around the plane, a noise much higher than that of its engine, a sound that the pilot appreciated and described as similar to a powerful continuous thunderclap.

As a significant comment, we can state here that when the pilot landed, at his airport of origin, he was still very excited and very scared by the observation of the UFO and spoke about all this, among several other people, with a commander stationed at the time at the neighboring Pení Military Air Base, which, by every comment, told him, probably as a consolation and to reassure him: that he was not the first nor would he be the last to see such things. All the words are unnecessary…

The pilot describes the UFO as follows:

It was a solid object, its shape was something like a rugby ball in an upright position and having the lower tip truncated or trimmed. Its color was greenish from the top to the middle of its height and from there it began to turn orange and then reddish, radiating light. The size of the UFO evaluates it at about 20 m. high by 10 m. wide (in any case it is a considerable size, something like an ordinary 6-story house). Despite the smooth appearance of the object, the witness was perfectly aware, he claimed, that the object was rotating on itself. The pilot states that he felt panic and claims that he experienced a strange sensation, like hypnotic attraction, when looking at the object.

Observation Area. (Line followed, normal itinerary of the plane; dotted line, route followed on the day of observation.)

The height at which the UFO was found was the necessary one to achieve at all times its purpose of staying at the level of the plane and in a position somewhat ahead of it and located to its right. The speed maintained by the UFO was higher than that of the plane, since it could not, at any time, be reached by it. The object was evolving around the plane, following it in the various maneuvers that the latter carried out to try to avoid it and get away from it. All this happened at an altitude between 200 and 1,000 m., Depending on the evolution of the plane.

Dimensions of the UFO observed over the Medes Islands.

In total the Observation lasted from 10 to 12 minutes. The sky was clear and some stratum-cumulus clouds were seen at about 1,400 m. Tall. The Observation was made in broad daylight and the Sun was descending towards sunset. Visibility was good, without haze, reaching about 30 kms. The weather was hot and dry.

From everything we leave transcribed it is clear that this was a very interesting UFO observation. According to news that we are pending to confirm, some other pilot was also able to observe the UFO during the numerous flights carried out on that day and in that area. We are also waiting to obtain information regarding what could be the causes of a blackout that occurred on that date and in the same area of the observation to which these lines refer.

Commenting on the significance of such facts and contrasting them with similar observations, we can arrive at the affirmation that the observation belongs, due to its characteristic of observation carried out from an aircraft in flight, to a group that has occurred relatively frequently in our own country and also all over the world. Perhaps it will be of interest to the reader that we relate below a couple of such Observations, related and made in the Iberian Peninsula, so that the appropriate conclusions can be obtained from the story in order to the credibility of the case.

UFO OBSERVATION BETWEEN REUS AND TARRAGONA ON MAY 15, 1968

It originated the takeoff of two F-86s from Zaragoza,

To relate this singular and important observation we will use practically the same words used by our communicator, a person who, by the way, turns out to be of the maximum credibility because he is a high-ranking military man and at that time active in the «Communications and Electronics» services. ». The letter received read the following:

“On the morning of the 15th, a UFO appeared between Reus and Tarragona, at an altitude of about 20,000 feet, which caused two F-86s to take off from Zaragoza, since there were two radar stations that located it: Roses and Calatayud. As the couple approached in the flight line and at the same height, the UFO moved up vertically, up to about 40,000 feet, a ceiling not reachable by the F-86s. An order was then given for a couple of F-104s to leave Torrejón (Madrid), and the same thing happened again: as the reactors approached the UFO, it rose again, this time to more than 60,000 feet, an unattainable ceiling without a cabin. special. Speaking to the pilots, when they landed, they declared that it was mushroom shaped and metallic luster. The meteorological center was called — in Roses there is a French detachment under the command of a captain — and they confirmed that no probe balloon or anything similar had been launched that day”.

Zaragoza F-86

The only thing that is not entirely clear to us, in the way the information in our possession is drawn up, is the possible relationship between the aforementioned meteorological center and the aforementioned French detachment. It is possible that it was an observation post and collection of atmospheric data entrusted to a group of French soldiers, perhaps within a program of mutual assistance and data exchange.

UFO OBSERVATION CARRIED OUT FROM A LINE PLANE ON THE PALMA-CASTELLON TRIP ON FEBRUARY 25, 1969

This Observation was extensively commented on and disseminated by almost all the newspapers in Spain, collecting it at this place and on the occasion as this seems appropriate for systematic purposes and for the guarantee and reliability that the people who reported it deserve. The pilot of the ship (a passenger Caravelle), Mr. JOA, the copilot Mr. C., the mechanic Mr. C. and the stewardess were witnesses of what we are going to narrate, having been able to observe all of them from the cabin of the device, since the Strange object appeared in the distance and in front of the plane for which reason no passenger could see it, although one of them gave us valuable testimony about the abrupt changes of course of the plane, a direct consequence of the efforts of the pilot of the aircraft. to evade and distance yourself from the path followed by the UFO. The pilot explained: «It would be nine thirty at night on February 25, 1969 and we were coming from Son Sant Joan airport (Palma de Mallorca) with a slight delay. It took us about 20 minutes of flight. The Caravelle was flying at about 9,000 m. above the sea and the object at the same height, perhaps a little higher. Its shape was triangular and its color was intense red, possessing greater luminosity at the vertices. The second pilot and the mechanic affirmed that it was no longer a single light source, as it seemed to the pilot Mr. J.O.A. from his position in the more illuminated cockpit. but of three separate and independent lights. The object does not blink but it changed color, turning from red to bright white every few seconds, with an orange in between. I timed it and it turned out that it took ten seconds to change from one color to the other. The overall observation lasted about 20 minutes. What was observed was the following:

Shortly after taking off from the Palma de Mallorca airport we saw a light in the sky, which at first we assumed could well be an airplane due to the changes in lights, although the intervals lasted longer than in airplanes. We asked Barcelona if a plane was passing through our route and they said no. We had the object in front of the nose of the plane for about 20 minutes. First, the UFO moved away from us to the point of becoming a luminous point but without disappearing. It then zoomed back to its previous position, which we estimate extremely inaccurately and unreliably to be about 70 miles ahead of our aircraft’s position, and descended to the ground, climbing back up to nearly our level. » What surprised the witnesses the most was the fact that said descent and ascension path (about 18 kms.) Was done in a time of about 3 seconds, which represents a sudden displacement at an impressive speed of about twenty thousand kms. hour … The object remained at the height of the plane for about 8 or 9 minutes, then slowly moving away and getting smaller until it disappeared completely. The pilot-commander of the ship says that the mysterious object is gone and the co-pilot claims that it was blurred. The apparent size of the object was something like an orange and its distance from the plane was practically inaccurate, although the copilot wrote down the figure of about 70 miles. . . Which would mean that the object would have a huge life size !! In some reports it is stated that the observers stated that the object reappeared almost near the end of the flight, that is, in Madrid, giving off an impressive white light, disappearing moments later in space.

In some of the interviews to which the pilot, Mr. J.O.A., was subjected, he expressed his surprise at the fact that the report that he wrote and delivered, in relation to the vicissitudes of this flight, had transpired to the public in such a spectacular way. << We have to deliver — he affirmed — confidential reports giving a detailed account of what happened on each flight. I think — he added — that the news must have come from one of the control towers that had contact with us >>. Of course, the conversation with the ground was recorded on tape, since in this regard the pilot stated that several days after the incident occurred, he had the opportunity to listen to said tape at the Barcelona Airport Control Center.

To conclude, we will say that the pilot and commander of the ship from which this important observation was made told those gathered: «When we saw the lights we thought of everything: Venus, an airplane, a balloon, and yet we knew with all certainty that it was nothing of the kind. The night was very clear and we could not be confused: what we saw was an unidentified object; that’s for sure.”

Some of the members of the CEI (Center for Interplanetary Studies) took steps to obtain authorization to listen to said tape recording, but we did not achieve our goals. . .

***

We have described a valuable trilogy of observations, from whose reading and consideration any objective and dispassionate person will be able to obtain substantial conclusions about the reality and some essential characteristics of the UFO phenomenon.
