UFO LANDING
MATADEPERA 1969 BARCELONA SPAIN
From among the UFO Questionnaires archived in our files, we selected a case that, although it was already published in a magazine, we believe will be of interest to my readers.
The events occurred at the end of January 1969 (perhaps on the 29th) in the Barcelona town of Matadepera and had an elderly woman over 80 years old as the only witness, but with truly magnificent and enviable health and strength. , as he walks perfectly without the help of anyone or a cane and, although he wears glasses, his eyesight can be classified as fully normal and satisfactory as we have been able to verify. Likewise, we can affirm that it uses the other senses correctly, without any impairment being seen in them. On the other hand, she demonstrated at all times, on the various occasions in which we interviewed her directly, a mental agility that was truly out of the ordinary in people of such advanced age.
Our spirited and friendly old woman, Mrs. Antonia Soler Rius, often leaves her house and goes to a small meadow, which is very close to her home, to look for herbs or simply to walk, because what it is about is to do a little exercise, breaking the tedium and monotony of staying still and locked at home. On the indicated date of the end of January, around 10 in the morning, Ms. Soler left her house as usual and walked towards the outskirts of town.
The day was very good, with a beautiful sun and a clear sky. While the witness was entertaining on the side of the road collecting some herbs, it was when she suddenly heard a loud noise that seemed strange to her in that place and time. He describes it as the one a car would produce when it passes close and at high speed. Immediately the old woman straightened up to better make sure what was happening and to try to locate the source of the noise in question. At that very moment, he saw a “curious flying object” appear, coming from his right side and in a slightly ascending oblique line, and through the treetops, being able to realize that said object made a sudden and very rapid maneuver to avoid a collision with a 5,000 volt electrical power cable, which obstructs his progressive and, apparently, just started ascent.
The aforementioned maneuver consisted of a sudden descent towards the ground to circumvent said cable, passing under it, which implies impressive precision and safety, since the height at which the cable is located is about 6.5 meters above ground level. Also take into account the speed that the object was carrying, the very low distance that separated it from the cable (about 20 meters) and the approximate size of the object, which was, according to Antonia Soler’s estimates, about 3 meters wide by 1 , 5 high and 2.5 long.
The witness describes the object in the following way: she compares it with a sea bream …, that is, with a fairly flattened fish shape, narrowing from front to back, until it ends in a kind of vertical tail. It had a metallic appearance and very bright and vivid colors stood out, for which reason the witness assures that the object was painted … all of it to see and mainly yellow. These colors were distributed forming a species of moles and leaf-shaped drawings, in such a way that when the moles were yellow, the leaf or surrounding area was green and vice versa. Furthermore, in the lower area or belly a kind of circular crown or ring was clearly seen, the central part of which had an orange-yellow color, all of which was limited by a black or very dark blue circle. Next followed a circular area in which green and yellow were mixed, as mentioned before, constituting a kind of very beautiful “pattern” that the witness assures that she liked it very much, adding that she had never seen anything like it. and that the object should belong to someone who «knew how to paint very well» …
On its front or front there were rounded or feroidal protrusions whose purpose or nature is ignored by the witness, as is to be expected. Mrs. Soler did not appreciate any windows, doors, etc., that is, the surface seemed smooth and uniform.
The illustration on the cover shows perfectly what has been explained above in relation to the abrupt downward movement made by the object to avoid a collision with the cable, passing through a rectangular gap with dimensions of approximately 6 by 4 meters (height- width), existing on one side the electricity pole that supported the cable and on the other a not very large pine of a height that did not reach that of the cable.
Once the object had circumvented the aforementioned obstacle, it climbed slightly and rapidly in a slightly ascending diagonal line, just like the take-off of an ordinary plane, and was lost from sight at regular speed, as if it were flying to the nearby town of Terrassa, which It is only distant from Matadepera about 6 km., in flight not very high over the pines and low houses that exist in that area.
With the story being much and interesting, the matter does not end here and, precisely in view of what we are going to relate below, we believe that the case at hand may be of singular importance.
Thanks to our correspondent in Sabadell, Mr. Joan Fonolleda Prat, the initial details regarding this observation came to our attention. Mr. Fonolleda asked the witness to accompany him to the scene of the events, in order to inspect it in search of possible traces or other material evidence of a landing that no one saw but that could have taken place. Once the terrain had been examined, the following was found: in the vicinity of the point where Ms. Soler was found when she saw the UFO, about 30 or 40 meters away, some curious tracks were noticed on the ground. Thanks to our correspondent, all this came to our knowledge, with which a group of members of the CEI Center for Interplanetary Studies traveled to Matadepera. We proceeded to examine in detail the place of the possible landing, taking on the spot all the data that we will present below.
In the attached sketch we show the situation and characteristics of the marks found on the ground. This constitutes the only real and material testimony of the possible landing of a UFO, since it has not been possible to find any conventional explanation or justification for them, despite the fact that all possible hypotheses have been taken into consideration. In it, it can be seen that there are four parallel lines, in two groups of two marks each, oriented in a NW-SE direction, which is precisely the direction from which the object seen by the witness disappeared.
When discovered, these marks had a bulging outward appearance, that is, as the surface of a ground would appear if a metal rod of appreciable thickness were inserted below it and at a very shallow depth and in a direction parallel to the surface of the ground. . In this case, this kind of superficial swelling produced on the surface of the ground would allow the trajectory of the object introduced into the ground to be perfectly followed.
Summarizing, we could say that the appearance of the marks was somewhat similar to the very shallow tunnels that moles produce in the fields, but with the notable and essential difference of their very small diameter (as can be seen in the sketch). , of being two pairs of perfectly parallel tracks, of having all of them the identical NW-SE orientation, of having a single hole: the one corresponding to the entrance and exit, and of being appreciable, when lifting the layer of earth that covered the gutters formed by the introduction of a hard body into the earth, curious equidistant lateral branches, of very short length and small diameter.
For all the foregoing, it can be said that the marks could not have been produced in any way by an animal. Nor by any known machine, if we take into account the characteristics of the tracks in question: be horizontal, although with a slight downward inclination, very shallow, have the aforementioned ramifications, etc., as can be seen from a careful study of the attached sketch.
It is worth mentioning that inside the small open channels in the ground, you could perfectly appreciate the aspect that the earth offered when pressed against the walls of the same. This makes more plausible the hypothesis that a hard, straight and narrow object was introduced into the earth under great pressure.
Of the two pairs of footprints found, those that made up the pair on the left were much more clearly marked. About 9 or 10 meters from them, another 4 appeared, but they were very blurry and imprecise, so we are not saying at all about it.
Once the earth that covered the underground channels had been raised to examine their interior, which apparently did not contain any substance, we took in plaster the mold of one of the footprints, although as expected it was remarkably deformed and of a noticeably large size. larger than the actual size of that brand.
Due to her obvious human interest, we will add that the witness did not experience any kind of shock or suffer any type of negative consequences a posteriori in relation to the observation of the UFO, rather: she was very happy and satisfied for having had the opportunity to have seen « something so beautiful. She had never heard of UFOs before, but instead she assured us that she knows very well, and can distinguish them perfectly, an airplane or a helicopter, the latter word, which she mispronounces because it is a neologism for her and is alien to their formation, having seen them (the helicopters) sometime on their home TV.
He assures, then, that what he saw was something totally and absolutely unknown and he cannot explain what it could be, which is easy to understand since the same thing would happen to us in identical circumstances. It is curious to indicate that the witness said that it should be something from abroad, to try to justify the strangeness and astonishment that this event caused her. And we already know that in other times, and still today, for some people, a foreigner is synonymous with distant, strange and surprising… Something unusual and not frequent.
