EBENEZER UFO INCIDENT
David Ross is a Canadian UFO researcher and enthusiast. He caught my attention a writing that he posted and shared on a Facebook group. I considered that it is one of the most interesting cases and that I believe to this day continues to generate controversy. Was it a landing of a ship from space? Was it a military shoot down of an unknown aircraft perhaps of extraterrestrial origin? or was it just a meteorite. Everything indicates that the latter was not.
I asked him, given how interesting this event was, to let me share it on my blog, which I kindly accept. I hope you enjoy it. David Ross’s investigation and dissemination are worth it.
Ebenezer is a village in Prince Edward Island. Ebenezer is situated southeast of Wheatley River.
EBENEZER ICE CREAM CONE UFO INCIDENT
On August 22nd, 1990, a silent and glowing ice cream cone shaped craft was witnessed flying over the Maritimes when it broke apart and landed in Ebenezer, PE. The incident generated many calls, reports, and a rumoured military recovery operation. This infographic provides a timeline of events, government reports, and other relevant information concerning this important Canadian UAP event.
August 11th-12th, 1990
The Perseid meteor shower peaked over Prince Edward Island.
Monday, August 20th, 1990
2 Canadian Navy Destroyers, Athabaskan and Terra Nova, that were preparing to sail to the Persian Gulf region (under protection of the Navy, Army, and Air Force) left Halifax port to sail to a naval range off Halifax to test guns, guidance, warning computers, satellite communications, and an extensive array of new antiaircraft weapons — including rapid-fire Phalanx anti-missile guns and harpoon anti-ship missiles.

8:00PM — 8:30PM — Bellefond, NB
Two witnesses report a bright 4 to 5 feet long clear object coming down at a 45 degree angle for approximately 200 feet and hitting the ground; with a red glow as it hit.
Wednesday, August 22nd, 1990 — The Ebenezer Incident
8:00PM — 8:30PM — Bellefond, NB
Two witnesses report a bright 4 to 5 feet long clear object coming down at a 45 degree angle for approximately 200 feet and hitting the ground; with a red glow as it hit.
8:15PM — Morristown, NS
A farming family reports watching a very bright orange and white circular object — a quarter the size of the moon — flying slowly just above the horizon, slightly upward and west to east; with a tail appearing and growing in length.
8:30PM — Îles-De-La-Madeleine, QUE
A witness reports to the local weather station a bright red fire ball followed by a yellow/green light that was approximately 20 feet in diameter with a 30 to 50 foot fire tail. The object was bright enough to illuminate the ground and water surface before it disintegrated. Area Control Centre Moncton advised the weather station that other observations were reported over Cape Breton and New Brunswick areas around the same time. The weather station asked the NRC Meteor Centre in Ottawa if they had any information regarding this possible disintegration of an object.
8:30PM — Middleton, NS
Two local farmers report seeing a very bright orange/yellow circular object that changed to blueish white as it flew slightly above the horizon, disappearing below the horizon in 3–5 seconds. Observer thought it was an aircraft on fire; about 10 miles away.
8:30PM — Chatham Head, NB
A witness reports seeing, for a few seconds, a bright lime green oval shaped object with sort of a long tail behind it.
8:50PM — 10:30PM — Ebeneezer, PE
A small group of witnesses reported a glowing white object which landed in the woods in Ebeneezer, where it continued to glow until 12:00 AM. Around the same time another witness saw a red hot sheet of metal land 300 yards from him in the woods of Frenchvale Cape Breton, NS. RCMP in Syndey planned to question the witness the next morning. Multiple detachments of RCMP reported location of debris information. Various other reports of flares, fire balls, flaming aircraft and burning boats were also received. The Phenomena was also seen from Anticosti Island, Halifax, Newfoundland and Maine (US). RCC Halifax sent this report to the National Defense Operations Centre in Ottawa and requested that the Operations Centre pass the report to the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics (NRC).

“Fiery mass over Island part of meteor shower”
8 P.M. a fiery mass — thought to be a comet or plane on fire by a local witness — is seen streaking through the sky over Prince Edward Island and appears to crash. NORAD spokesperson confirms it wasn’t a satellite and claims it was related to a meteor streaking through the atmosphere. The meteor explanation is backed up by UPEI’s Astronomy Professor.
[Note: The day of the week reported is called into question as the story describes what happens the next evening — Wednesday — across the Maritimes. It is unlikely these events happened two nights in a row and there are no known reports confirming related activity or incidents on Tuesday.]
“A PLANE ON FIRE? OR UFO? Meteor shower prompts phone calls”
Hundreds of calls poured into maritime radio stations, airport towers, police detachments and the Halifax Search and Rescue Centre reporting burning planes and satellites, objects landing in people’s backyards, and a UFO. NORAD confirmed it was a meteor shower and not a satellite. A professor of Physics at Dalhousie University backed up the NORAD claim.

“Canadian warships leaving today”
Up to 1,500 people are expected to cram a naval dockyard today when 3 Canadian warships carrying 934 sailors set sail for the Persian Gulf region.
Other Notes
There were six people on the back step that watched what looked like an orange or red fire-like ice cream cone on its side, as it fell silently a few fields back from the house in Ebenezer — where it glowed for hours after landing. Another family member claims that he also saw a second craft landing across the road while on his drive home after the initial incident.
Shortly after the first craft landed a witness had telephoned the radio station and they were told by the station that there were many calls about it. Sometime later the RCMP showed up at the witness’ house. One of the Mounties went back to the landing site, while the other directed traffic to keep cars moving past the location.
It was a busy and noisy night. There were lots of helicopters flying all over the place. The witness who called the radio station and spoke with RCMP took many photographs of the helicopters, then put the camera on top of the refrigerator before going to bed. The next day the camera was gone.
One of the witness’ children was later interviewed for a TV story about the incident that got some attention. This led to the witness receiving some nasty lettermail from many people and places — which resulted in the witness firmly proclaiming “So help me, Jesus. If a little green man came knocking on my door I wouldn’t tell a fucking soul!”
The morning after the incident 30 members of the Charlottetown Astronomy Club searched the area
for meteorites. They found nothing. The club’s president didn’t believe that it was a meteorite. [14]
Chris Styles, notable Canadian UFO researcher and author, went door-to-door in Ebenezer to speak with local residents — they were friendly towards Chris but nobody would speak about the incident.
“A”
In 1997, “A”, an ex-military officer with rescue training, came forward and told UFO researchers that she was flown into Ebenezer with a medical team on a rescue mission and told to bring hazmat suits for going into contaminated areas. Upon landing on site they were told not to enter the crash site; due to a security issue. As the team stood down “A” watched a flatbed truck enter the site and leave while transporting something covered by a tarp. She was convinced it was a recovery operation and was told not to speak of the operation. In the coming days she was told by American Air Force officers that they had recovered a spaceship.
News Stories and Non-meteoric Sightings Report locations from National Research Council’s Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics — concerning the Ebenezer Ice Cream Cone UFO Incident in Ebenezer, Prince Edward Island.
Conclusion
The official meteorite explanation published in the media isn’t true — and the general public opinion of a satellite is also incorrect. NORAD confirmed it wasn’t a satellite and the Military’s National Command Centre sent the incident report to the Herzberg Astrophysics Institute — who filed the report in their Non-Meteoric Sightings files; which indicates it also wasn’t a meteorite. If it were a classified satellite NORAD would have known and the National Command Centre would also know and wouldn’t have sent the reports to Herzberg.
These incident and media reports do raise the question — Was the Ice Cream Cone shaped UAP shot down by the Navy before being recovered and covered up? Whatever it was.
